The Celebration Choir is our Traditional worship service choir. We joyfully lead the congregation in the corporate singing of our hymns. We also provide special musical presentations through the Call to Worship, anthems, and benedictions. We offer other special musicals and choral pieces, including Christmas and Easter musicals.

Rehearsals: Take place weekly on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the downstairs Music Room. Supplemental rehearsals occur as we prepare for Christmas and Easter musicals.

Auditions: We are an open group – no audition is required to attend and lift your voice in our choir. Just come! Some of our group read music and others do not. Either way is fine. What IS important is that music is an important part of worship for all of our members. If that sounds like you, come visit us! We invite you to come and sing!

The “Common Ground” Drama Team

Theatre, film, music and visual arts have a tremendous impact on people. A simple monologue or heartfelt song can make an eternal change in someone’s life. In a world that has become more and more entertainment and media driven, the church must find similarly creative ways to bridge the gap and deliver Christ’s message of hope and salvation to all people – a way to create a more “Common Ground”.

The “Common Ground” Drama Team seeks to creatively communicate Christ’s love in exciting and thought-provoking ways. We incorporate elements of art, ASL, drama, humor, interpretive dance, monologue and more to enhance the mission of the church and to engage viewers with the story of Jesus in a relevant, new way.

Come be a part of the CG Drama Team! We are a multi-generational Team that uses the combined talents and gifts of those special people whom God has granted the abilities to talk, walk, dance, draw, sew, play a musical instrument, sing, sign, craft, teach, and/or pray. We have the vision… and we seek those with a willing spirit and heart, along with any other special blessings from God.

Oceanview Worship

Oceanview Worship (the band) is a multi-generational community of Christ-following, musically-talented believers who share a deep love for God and for each other. We are called to risk ourselves in worship, to teach others and to facilitate the worship experience for attendees at Oceanview UMC and wherever else God may lead us.

Our group is dedicated to multi-faceted, multi-generational, and creative expressions of worship. We are an audition-based group, yet we value and accept beginning creatives alongside professionals. We practice a rotation schedule, so individuals have time to rest and be a part of the congregational experience. We value being a forever family, so there are gatherings, road trips or worship conferences from time to time. We value others, so we share God’s love through creative worship outside the church walls.

We welcome:

  • Instrumentalists of a wide range of usual (and unusual) instruments, players of many different styles and levels of playing ability.
  • Vocalists, both melody and harmony, for small ensembles, special presentations or Celtic Service or Sunday teams as well as those who sing or speak other languages.
  • Songwriters, poets, and lyricists for collaborative expressions of worship.
  • Creative artists: Alongside our standard worship team, we also seek to incorporate other expressions of worship into our Contemporary Worship gatherings: ASL, worship movement, dance, drama, fine arts, spoken word, visual arts and film, design and lighting.
  • We also welcome creative ideas, projects, songs and poetry from the wider congregation.

Jubilation Ringers Handbell Choir

Image from Muncy First United Methodist Church

Jubilation Ringers augment the music ministry using our wonderful four octave set of handbells to worship and praise God.

The Jubilation Ringers are a mixed age group of intermediate level ringers that rehearse most Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary. The choir is comprised of several talented ringers who span a wide range of occupations and ages. None of the members are professional musicians; they give of their own time to rehearse weekly and perform with the group. The Jubilation Ringers enhance Sunday morning worship and special services throughout the year.

The group is a great place for ringers to develop their ringing and music reading skills. The group is designed so that ringers of all ages can participate and enhance their abilities. Ringing exercises are used to develop confidence and the repertoire is chosen to teach all of the various ringing techniques used in handbell music today.

At Oceanview, the effective use of media and technology plays an important role in communicating the gospel in a dynamically, and sometimes dramatically, effective way. Our ultimate goal is to creatively enhance the worship experience without interfering with or distracting from it.

Media and Technical Arts Ministry Mission Statement:
To communicate the gospel, glorify Christ and impact lives in our community by enhancing the vital worship, teaching, preaching and outreach of Oceanview church.

Our Ministry is a team effort. We are all blessed with different gifts and strengths, all part of the Body of Christ. Through the use of what each person brings, we can help others as we ourselves grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

How you can help? We are always looking for talented people who have gifts or a desire to learn, in the areas of sound and video production, live production, lighting, media creation, social media production, computer projection, graphics design, photography, videography, set design, carpentry, cabling and CAT6, web design, print communication and more!
Basic hands-on training and advanced mentor-ship opportunities are available.

Sacred Dance Team

Psalm 149:3 “Let them praise His name with dancing; Let them sing praises to Hi with timbrel and harp”.

Sacred dance is a form of worship intended to inspire and support the message of the service through dance in the same way a choir does through singing. Also known as “Liturgical Dance,” it has come to mean part of what we think of as ‘the liturgy’ or the order of the worship service that has been convened and dedicated to God.

Therefore, a sacred dancer is one who expresses his or her faith through movement ministry in a public worship setting. Adults and youth of any ability are invited to be a part of this group. Experience is welcomed but not necessary.
