Oceanview currently has two handbell choirs. Both choirs augment the music ministry using our wonderful four octave set of handbells to worship and praise God.
The Bellissimos are a mixed age group of beginning to intermediate ringers that rehearse on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary. The group presents an anthem approximately every other month at one or more services.
The present choir is comprised of several talented ringers who span a wide range of occupations and ages. None of the members are professional musicians; they give of their own time to rehearse weekly and perform with the group.
The Jubilation Ringers are a mixed age group of intermediate level ringers. Rehearsals are Tuesday mornings at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary as schedules permit. The Jubilation Ringers present an anthem approximately every other month at one or more services. Several ringers enjoy playing in duets and trios, for the Celtic Evensong Service and for other special services as well.
Both groups are a great place for ringers to develop their ringing and music reading skills. Each group is designed so that ringers of all ages can participate and enhance their abilities. Ringing exercises are used to develop confidence and the repertoire is chosen to teach all of the various ringing techniques used in handbell music today.
