Tradition is a good thing. We celebrate the mystery of our faith with a sense of connection to the generations of Jesus-followers who have worshiped before us. Here at this service you will find a Call to Worship, Affirmations of Faith, Creeds, a real pipe organ (yes, really!), a choir and even hymnals. We have a greeting and opening prayer, Scripture readings, prayers and praises, an offering, the Lord’s Prayer, a children’s message, the sermon, special music and hymns and a closing prayer.
Here at the traditional service, we unabashedly love the pageantry and visuals of the church. They give us hope. And out of that hope, we seek to walk with Jesus in this moment, looking toward the future. Communion may also be served. All are invited to celebrate communion, but you can choose whether or not you wish to participate. We print the words and responses in our bulletins to help those who are unfamiliar with our ways. We are not rigid. When we realized that a few in our forever-family couldn’t hold a heavy hymnal, we put the hymn lyrics on the screen. Tradition: for us, it’s about love.
The Celebration Choir
The Celebration Choir provides choral musical leadership for the Traditional worship service. This includes leading the congregation in the corporate singing of our hymns, as well as providing special musical presentations through the Call to Worship, anthems and benedictions. We also offer Christmas and Easter musicals.
Rehearsals: Take place weekly on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the downstairs Music Room. Supplemental rehearsals occur as we prepare for Christmas and Easter musicals.
We are an open group – no audition is required to attend and lift your voice in song. Some in our group read music and others do not. However, music is an important part of worship for all of our members. If this sounds like you, we invite you to come and sing.
